The Kilt Ride 2016 is a fundraising motorcycle ride over 2 days

Sat 28th May and Sunday the 29th May 2016

A registration fee of £10.00 is required for all participants. You can register here (link will open in a new window)

Requirements for riders:

Full UK motorcycle licence, rr CBT certificate with provisional licence
Bike to be fully legal and roadworthy.
Tent and sleeping bag for camping at Loch Ness.
Money for fuel, food and a wee drink on Saturday night.
Kilt is essential. (Feel free to go the whole hog)

On the Sat morning from 9am/9.30am we will rendezvous for registration at the Leadburn Inn located just outside Penicuik. With a departure time of 10am, we will head through Edinburgh city and then north over the bridge to the Dores inn at Loch Ness, where we will camp for the night. There will be plenty of fuel stops over the 2 days

The ride on Day One will take us through Perthshire to the Spittal of Glenshee, stopping at Braemar for lunch and fuel. From Breamar we ride over the Lecht and the Dava moor, to Nairn and onto Dores.

Arriving at the Dores Inn for around early evening, the inn offers great food and is home to a small bar with a wide variety of drinks available. There will be plenty of parking for bikes and space to camp, an outside barbecue and live music with the use of the toilets at the inn, its sure to be a great night.

The following morning we will aim to leave by 10.30am, heading along the south bank of Loch Ness to Fort Augustus where we then join the road to Fort William. Continuing from Fort William we keep heading on to Tyndrum through Glencoe. Stopping at The Green Welly for lunch and fuel.

After lunch we head South pass Loch Earn and Stirling heading back to Edinburgh, and the fnal destination of the Leadburn Inn.

CSF Leaks or Cerebrospinal fluid leaks are a relatively unknown condition, where the protective fluid around the brain leaks. These leaks can be from the nose or from tiny holes in the spinal column. The fluid is there to support the brain and without it the brain is forced to slump or sag within the skull.
This results in internal pain beyond our understanding and can result in suicide.
One of my childhood friends unfortunately has this condition and his life has been turned upside down.
This fundraiser is to help both with his medical costs and to provide a support for others like him In The U.K.

NB:Kilts are essential to be worn on this ride and the route does cover Motorways at start point after the Forth Bridge. Then the M9 after Stirling. For any 125cc riders that are wishing to join in, there will be a 2nd rendezvous point at Perth on Saturday morning..
